BBW17-Website-780x300_0

I hope we all appreciate and celebrate our freedom to read (and write) whatever we choose. Diversity is so incredibly important, especially for our children; encourage them to read about other cultures, religions, and sexual orientations. Please help celebrate the annual Banned Books Week, which this year is September 24 – 30.  You can find info at http://www.bannedbooksweek.org/

I’ve posted lists before of the most incredible bookstores in the world. But alas, most of us will never have the opportunity to travel to all those countries to see these wonders. So here’s a list of the best in the U.S., giving us a more likely chance to see them. Check out the photos, you know you’ll love actually going to these places and touching the books.

Many countries have now identified a specific location as their national “book town” — the town with a huge number of bookstores and related businesses. In Scotland, it is Wigtown. I really would love to do a tour of all these book towns in the UK and western Europe. But I’d end up having to pay shipping for a ton of books to get them home!
